Shagun Verma is the dynamic and visionary founder of Zest Inc., a fashion brand rooted in her vast experience and passion for design, production, and business. A mother of a boy, Shagun’s journey has been shaped by her dedication to both family and career, balancing multiple roles (as a daughter and wife) with grace. Her journey started at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, where she studied fashion merchandising and design. After that she worked with renowned global brands focusing on design and production, Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, Teri Jon and Roberta Freymann to name a few.
It was during her time at Roberta Freymann where Shagun’s passion for Indian craftsmanship truly took root. She travelled across India, collaborating with multiple factories and experiencing firsthand the country’s rich textile and craftsmanship heritage. This exposure inspired her to launch Zest Inc., where she could blend her love for design and business.
Zest Inc. embodies Shagun’s belief in collaboration, craftsmanship, and creativity. Her ability to translate ideas and visuals into actual garments is one of the core strengths of the brand. Zest Inc. isn’t just about clothing; it's about bringing ideas to life and crafting pieces that resonate with authenticity and style.
One of the driving forces behind Zest Inc. is Madhu Verma, Shagun Verma's mother, whose participation was essential to the development of the business. Shagun always felt that her mother's knowledge was the best way to make Zest a reality, and Madhu joined the team in 2014, contributing decades of experience.
Madhu’s journey began with a degree from the University of Calcutta, followed by a career in design after relocating to Delhi. For 40 years, she ran a kids' manufacturing business with her husband, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in every aspect of production.
With an exceptional eye for quality and detail, Madhu has played a crucial role in ensuring Zest’s products meet the highest standards. Her wealth of experience has been a guiding force, helping the team understand what true quality looks like at every level of production.
Madhu continues to show her unshakeable dedication to her family and the company by juggling her care for her grandson with managing quality control at Zest.
